Closed Cell, Cross Linked Polyethylene Foams (XPLE Foams)

Concept

Whichever industry or sector you’re in, from automotive to aeronautical, fashion and beauty to marine and flotation, our experts in cross-linked foam converting will work closely with you and your team from the very start.

Whether it’s the creation of closed-cell foam packaging for unique equipment or a fragile product, bespoke flotation devices, foam gaskets or marketing and exhibition materials, our expertise is turning your concept into reality.

Design

Using some of the most advanced computer-aided design technology, as well as some traditional design techniques, our specialists in closed-cell foam design and conversion will ensure your cross-linked foam product meets all your specific requirements, whether it is:

  • Water-resistance – With its dense, closed-cell structure, closed-cell cross-linked polyethylene foam creates an impenetrable barrier to most liquids, making it ideal for the packaging of food or electronics.

  • Vibration control – The unique structure of closed-cell foam is well known for providing an efficient dampening effect, helping to absorb and significantly reduce vibration, particularly during transportation.

  • Impact resistance – The individual, tightly-packed cells of closed-cell polyethylene foam deliver highly effective impact resistance, meaning even after a heavy impact, your foam product will return to its original shape.

Stratocell Foam

Manufacture

At Polyformes we’ve invested heavily in some of the industry’s most advanced foam cutting and forming technology, including:

  • CNC Routing and MachiningCNC (Computer Numerical Control) is a highly accurate cutting and forming technique, which has helped Polyformes become the UK's leading producer of cross-linked polyethylene foam inserts.

  • Thermoforming and Compression MouldingThermoforming and Compression Moulding is a form of precision, closed-cell foam forming, we use to produce extremely intricate components often used in the aerospace and defence sector, as well as other industries requiring a high level of intricacy in the design of their closed-cell polyethylene foam products.

  • PrintingUsing our unique and patented 4 colour printing process, we print high-resolution lettering and images in a range of vibrant colours across any of your closed-cell polyethylene foam products, including your packaging solutions, foam trays and inserts, flotation devices, closed-cell foam components and much more.

These technologies and others, added to the skill and the vast experience of our specialists in closed-cell polyethylene foam product manufacturing, not only help us to bring all your designs to life with ultimate precision, but also allow us to take on, complete and deliver projects of any size.

Delivery

To ensure you receive your closed-cell polyethylene foam product or products on time, we use an effective combination of our specialist transport and overnight, third-party carriers.

We also provide specific packaging requirements including bubble wrap or various sized pallets (specified at the time of ordering), to help make sure your closed-cell foam product reaches you in perfect condition.
