01/08/2011 - SPECIAL NEEDS CHARITY DRIVE TO RAISE £1 MILLION

Guy Butcher from bespk.com is behind this ambitious project which is intended to raise £1,000,000 for children with special needs. Bespk are planning to make a 25,000 mile road trip in a 1930's Austin 7, travelling from New York to Tierra del Fuego. The proposed start date is March/April 2012.

The car started life as a Ruby four seater tourer. It had been bought as a wreck by a welder who had shortened the chassis to 6'3" but kept the original Girling type axles. A Chummy body made by RTC was fitted and to all intents and purposes it looked to the casual observer like a 1928 Chummy. The vehicle has been totally dismantled and all the parts cleaned prior to further detailed inspection, repair, repainting and reassembly. The intention is to reassemble the chassis engine gearbox back axle before refitting the body for reassurance that it all goes together before repainting the body and wings.

Guy's request to Polyformes was to see if we could assist with the supply of 1" thick Ethafoam to be used within the door panels as an easily cut and shaped, lightweight material, thus helping to reduce weight and fuel costs to a minimum.

Guy – it's on its way! And good luck to all at bespk.com with this project from Polyformes Ltd., the UK's favourite foam converter and specialist machinists of all grades of closed-cell expanded polyethylene foam including Plastazote, Ethafoam, Stratocell and Microlen.

01/06/2011 - POLYFORMES IS PREPARING FOR SEAWORK 2011

The Seawork 2011 International Exhibition and Conference is a commercial maritime exhibition and is the largest event of its nature anywhere in Europe. With 450 Exhibitors and 7000 visitors it is a great opportunity for people who work in this field to establish new relationships and strengthen those which already exist.

The Exhibition is in Southampton Docks at the ABP Port. This is an easily accessible location with good links to the main road. The venue itself is a single storey facility with 10,000 square metres of undercover space. There is also an on-the-water exhibition area, conference and meeting facilities, platoons to accommodate vessels and floating exhibits. To add to this, there is a large quayside area for outdoor exhibits.

We look forward to greeting existing customers and friends as well as meeting new visitors. Please do stop by and say hello. Ian Rumsey, Polyformes UK Sales Director, and David Haskell, our Technical Account Manager will be there to welcome you and discuss any foam or waterproof case queries.

On our stand (A277) we will be showing a selection of Explorer Cases, Europe's leading waterproof cases available in 24 different sizes. These are used extensively in the Marine environment for a myriad of applications including housing instrumentation in bespoke foam inserts and as diving equipment transit cases. We will also have foam fender materials used for their excellent buoyancy properties, as well as other foam item examples. We look forward to seeing you there!

30/03/2011 - POLYFORMES LATEST FOAM CONVERSION MACHINERY IN OPERATION

Polyformes, the UK's leading expert polyethylene foam converter, has now fully installed its latest 4-head CNC water-jet machine.

This latest model cuts up to 200mm thick closed cell foam material and enhances Polyformes capability and capacity for 2-dimensional foam production.

Operations Manager, David Allen, says "The benefits of this machine have already been felt with a short notice, high volume order that we managed to complete a week before due date. As this client was let down by their usual supplier, we were very happy to step in and satisfy their requirement."

For any foam products, whether water-jet, routed or thermoformed, in Plastazote, Ethafoam, Stratocell or Microlen expanded polyethylene foams, please call us - we would welcome the opportunity of quoting for your requirements.

05/10/2010 - POLYFORMES INVESTS IN ADDITIONAL FOAM CONVERSION MACHINERY

Polyformes, the UK's leading specialist polyethylene foam converter, has signed off an order for another CNC water-jet machine. Delivery of the built-to-specification system is anticipated within 12 weeks. The 4 head machine not only allows for 4 identical parts processing, but can also have split head use so that 2 lots of 2 items can be machined simultaneously.

Existing machinery will cut up to 100mm in one depth subject to material grade - this latest model will cut up to 200mm and will enhance Polyformes capability and capacity on this section of 2 dimensional foam production. The heads can be angled to produce beveled edges or internal angled pocket section.

Chairman, Paul Henrick, says 'Polyformes policy of continual investment in machinery, R & D and staff is paying dividends as we have not only weathered the recession, but have increased turnover and profitability precisely because of our long term investment planning'.

The new water-jet will complement Polyformes other conversion machinery purchased over the last 2 years which includes a double head CNC router with multi tool changing facility and a robot arm with revolving 4 station table for finishing extreme shaped foam parts.
