Bonding fabrics and films to polyethylene - composite foams
There are many applications where bonding foams to a fabric or another material are the best way forward. Sometimes it is for comfort or cushioning purposes, other times because of a specific requirement such as temperature resistance, reflective quality or aesthetics.

At Polyformes we are able to bond various fabrics to many of the closed cell pe foams and these can be either one side or both, or two different materials altogether. Combining materials adds value and quality perception to product.

As well as stretch fabrics, corduras, carpet and felt materials, we are also able to bond metallised polyester foil to foam, and scuff resistant films. Some papers and abrasive sheetings can be laminated.

Depending upon the materials joined together, these composite sheets can be processed further - water jet cut, thermoformed, die-cut or bandsawn.

The supermarket trolley seat shown has a waterproof elastocene material applied to the foam sheet before thermoforming. Once formed and trimmed, the straps are attached.

The highly durable seats are resistant to fluids and the specific fabric allows them to be easily cleaned.
