There is a choice of 3 lock styles for the Explorer Cases - the patented heavy duty brass padlocks provided with 2 keys, the 3 digit heavy duty combilocks with stainless 6mm diameter pin, and the new 4-digit TSA approved lock.
All locks fit all cases and have been designed so that they fit snug to the Explorer Case models which means that they do not swing out. This makes them invulnerable to knocks and impacts and also deters unwanted attention as they are impossible to cut.
The USA Transportation Security Administration (TSA), created in the wake of 9/11 to strengthen the security of the American transportation systems, requires that all cases to be checked at airports need to be either unlocked, or able to be opened by security staff with special master keys. These TSA approved locks allow for this in the USA, Canada and soon in the UK. The TSA are allowed to cut open, destroy or otherwise disable locks if they cannot access a case. Hence the introduction of the TSA locks to the Explorer Case range. |
